Pastors Rick and Sheryle Bowers
Pastor Rick and Sheryle Bowers have been married since 1980 and they enjoy the blessings of three children, Chris, Ashley and Brittany. Their ministry journey began after nearly three years of separation during which time, each of them came back to the Lord individually. Recognizing God’s view of divorce, they worked together and allowed God to bring true and complete reconciliation. Their efforts have resulted in a strong marriage, and the ability to work with other Christian couples who are struggling with theirs, through personal experience.
They employ a transparent, hands-on approach to their pastoral ministry. In the corporate setting of the church, they see their role as leaders facilitating and welcoming the presence of God in the church service. This creates a very relaxed, open environment in which congregants can seek God for themselves. Individual expression of worship is encouraged.
In recent years, Pastor Rick has felt the call to engage in an effort to create cultural change through public policy. He has been very active working on issues such as traditional marriage, lower taxation, rights of the unborn, and the stoppage of legalized gambling. He is currently working on developing a grass roots ministry which will encourage voter registration within the Christian community. He believes it is God’s will that Christians cast educated, Biblical values based votes as an exercise of good stewardship.
Pastor Sheryle has assumed more of the day to day operations of the church as well as the bulk of the preaching/teaching. Her spirited non-compromised delivery of the Gospel has served to be a change agent within the lives of many of the members. Reaching deep within herself, she ministers from her experiences, which allows her to relate to those in attendance.
If you choose to attend a service at Living Stone, you will find a freedom of worship and a willingness to wait on God. It is this quality that many have said to be something not found in other churches. Ushering in and entertaining God’s presence has always been a top priority to Pastor Rick and Sheryle.
